The USOC praised our Olympic team this cycle for bringing a lot more diversity to the ticket. Nice thought, right? But in America, we can’t have nice things, and Fox News is there to remind us of that.
FoxNews.com Executive Editor John Moody is furious that our Olympic team has too many non-white people on it. And if that isn’t enough to make him lose sleep at night, there are way too many gay people on the team to suit him as well.
Honestly, I have no idea how gay or not gay our Olympic team is because normal people do not give a shit about stuff like this. John Moody, though, seems to think about it an awful lot — like most “totally straight” conservative men do.
Moody issued some comments with his thoughts on the matter:
Unless it’s changed overnight, the motto of the Olympics, since 1894, has been ‘Faster, Higher, Stronger.’ It appears the U.S. Olympic Committee would like to change that to ‘Darker, Gayer, Different.’ If your goal is to win medals, that won’t work.
This wasn’t some “hot mic” gaffe. Moody actually wrote this down and published it. He continued to be an idiot by reaching back to figures like Jackie Robinson, as an example of athletes who were a success as a “result of their own merit,” rather than — as he put it — taking handouts in the name of diversity.
The utterly clueless irony of Moody’s statement is that Jackie Robinson was relegated to the Negro Leagues for a time before the color barrier was forcefully broken due to desegregation efforts within Major League Baseball.
